Ok, so I have heard all about this “clean eating” phenomenon and how it increases your energy and performance levels. I recently fractured my back and have not been able to work out as intensely as I would like. Oddly enough, I have found this to be decreasing my energy levels and increasing my waistline. Needless to say, I don’t like this one bit and I have decided to try the Whole30 deal to see if this makes me less sluggish and leaner. I have decided to chronicle my journey day by day to A) hold me accountable B) keep track of my recipes in case I ever want to do this again and C) because I like to blog about cooking!
This is actually a pretty daunting “diet”/lifestyle change to try. You have to cut out all dairy, legumes and bread! And for someone who really enjoys cooking, how do you make yummy dishes with no bread, cheese, or bean like products?! Well, hopefully I’ll find/discover a few 🙂
Day 1:
Off to a terrible start. I skipped breakfast because something for work had me so SUPER stressed that I couldn’t eat anything.
Late AM “snack”
Black coffee and a handful of almonds
Lunch: I was out and about so I really didn’t have a chance to cook, that’s why it is so sad
5 pieces of Boars Head cracked black pepper turkey
Apple
Handful of almonds
Dinner:
Sweet potato with olive oil sautéed spinach, mushrooms and eggs
Snack:
Another Apple
This menu was a little sad and lacking in nutrition, but I was really busy and stressed this day so hopefully will get better.
